Divorce and Family Law
Paul Newnum has been a member of The Florida Bar since 1983 and was the 2005-2006 Chair of the Orange County Bar Association’s Family Law Committee.
Mr. Newnum became a Florida Supreme Court Certified Family Mediator in 2001, and continues as a Certified Family Mediator today. He currently serves as a family mediator for the Ninth Judicial Circuit of Florida. In 2003, he was asked by the Court Care Center of the Ninth Judicial Circuit to serve as a Parent Coordinator for families in transition, and he continues to serve in that role. Since 1983, he has served as a guardian ad litem on behalf of children whose families are in transition. Mr. Newnum is a longtime member of The Florida Bar’s Family Law Section. He served as Co-Chair, Vice-Chair and Secretary of the Orange County Bar Association’s Family Law Committee during the past several years. He is a charter member of the Central Florida Family Law Inns of Court.
Mr. Newnum has lectured at The University of Central Florida, Valencia Community College, and the public schools of Orange County. He has also served on panels and forums related to legal issues and the bar. Mr. Newnum has graduated from the Orlando Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Orlando program. He served as President and was honored as “Toastmaster of the Year” by the Downtown Orlando Toastmasters Club. He has served as Chair of the Orange County Bar Association’s Entertainment Law Committee.
Mr. Newnum grew up in the Midwest and graduated from the public schools of Evansville, Indiana. He attended Purdue University for one year, where he was honored with membership in the Phi Eta Sigma national honorary society. At Indiana University he was a Hoosier Scholar and a Wendell L. Willkie Fellow in the Department of Political Science. He graduated with distinction in 1978 and was made a member of the national scholastic honorary organization, Phi Beta Kappa. Mr. Newnum graduated from the IU School of Law in 1981.
Mr. Newnum has also been involved in numerous civic, community and charitable groups. He has co-hosted the internationally recognized blues music show, Smokestack Lightnin’, since 1991. Paul Newnum has lived the Orlando area since 1981 and currently resides with his family in Winter Park.
